Aero-TV: A Principled Advocate For GA - Senator James Inhofe (Part 1)

Pilots Bill Of Rights 3 Is Working Its Way Through Congress

One of the highlights of AirVenture for the Aero-News team is a chance to sit down with U.S. Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) to get his insights into what is happening in Washington as it relates to our industry.

This year, Senator Inhofe has introduced the Security and Revitalizing Aviation (SARA) Act of 2018. In addressing the pilot shortage in the U.S., the SARA Act lays out a number of initiatives to help revitalize the future of general aviation.

A proposed Aircraft Pilot Education Program would make aviation careers more accessible through enabling high school students to take ground school classes and encouraging the development and sharing of an aviation curriculum.

Reforms for designated pilot examiners (DPEs), including allowing more daily check-rides and removing arbitrary geographic boundaries, would also help maintain an appropriate number of DPEs to facilitate growth of the pilot population.

The bill includes number of protections for pilots as well, such as ensuring continued due process to pilots and extending it to FAA designees, and protecting volunteer pilots from liability as long as they follow appropriate procedures.

Aero-TV is a production of the Internationally syndicated Aero-News Network. Seen worldwide by hundreds of thousands of aviators and aviation adherents, ANN's Aero-TV has produced over 3500 aviation and feature programs, including well over 1000 episodes of our daily aviation news program, AIRBORNE UNLIMITED, hosted by Bri Cross, Laura Hutson, and Christopher C. Odom.
