Anthrax Hoax Sends Flight Back To Athens

Plane Was Heading To Cyprus

An Olympic Airlines flight to Cyprus had to return to Athens Tuesday on reports the plane had anthrax hidden onboard.

According to media reports, Flight 329 turned around shortly after takeoff following an anonymous phone threat made to Greek police. No anthrax was found in a search conducted once the plane arrived safely back in Greece.

Greek police are investigating if the incident is connected with a bogus bomb threat that was also called in Tuesday, which closed an Athens subway station for more than an hour.
