The First Annual Brunswick International Fly-In Set

Maine's Brunswick Executive Airport Will Host The Event, Take Center Stage

The Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority (MRRA) of Maine is hosting the First Annual Brunswick International Fly-In at Brunswick Executive Airport (KBXM) on June 4 from 0800-1600.

"In the past, when it was a military field, pilots had to pop up to 3,000 feet and fly over this beautiful airport right on the coast of Maine," stated Steve Levesque, Executive Director of MRRA. "Pilots from all over are calling us to find out when they can land here, so we decided to host the Fly-in to celebrate the Airport's opening while also showcasing  Maine as a tourist destination for pilots."

The Brunswick International Fly-In will feature a pancake breakfast and among the speakers will be speakers Alan Klapmeier, CEO of Kestrel Aircraft Company. A pilot town hall forum will follow the speakers.  The afternoon will continue with WINGS safety seminars for pilots interested in continuing education credits. In addition, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will hold a homebuilt aircraft judging contest, as well as workshops on constructing homebuilt airplanes. The Fly-In will also serve as an open house to aviation enthusiasts interested in seeing and learning about this new general aviation airport in their community. Static displays will include amphibious, homebuilt, and antique airplanes, as well as a few jets. Live music by The Jerks of Grass will entertain attendees, and traditional Maine fare will be available throughout the day.

"Pilots will enjoy flying into Brunswick Executive Airport" said Marty McMahon, MRRA's Aviation Services Manager. "This airport has 8,000 ft parallel runways, instrument approach capabilities, and state-of-the-art buildings and hangars designed for aviation use. The 1.8 million square feet of ramp space and thousands of tie-downs make the airport a great venue for a Fly-In."

The Brunswick International Fly-In is proud to partner with AOPA and EAA. Sponsors include Maine Aviation Association, the Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber, Maine Aviation Corporation, Cirrus Aircraft, Maine Coastal Flight, Columbia Aviation Companies, Hoyle Tanner & Associates, Senecal Construction Company, and Cape Air. The Fly-In will also debut the Maine Flying Trail program-a passport program that encourages pilots to visit various airports in Maine where pilots collect stickers from each participating airport they visit. Once they have collected five stickers, they can redeem the passport at Brunswick Executive Airport for two free lobsters from Long Reach Seafood in Brunswick.
