Ibis Aerospace Goes WIth Honeywell APEX Integrated Cockpit

Will Be Upgrade For Ae270 Propjet

Ibis Aerospace announced that it has selected Honeywell’s APEX Integrated Avionics System for its Ae270 Propjet. The APEX system will be offered as an avionics upgrade for future deliveries of Ibis’ Ae270 single-engine turboprop.

The standard APEX system on the Ae270 will feature digital communication and navigation radios, an all-digital flight management system, a digital autopilot, three Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Displays (AMLCDs) measuring 10.4 inches diagonal, Mode S transponder, Engine Indicating and Caution Alert System (EICAS), weather radar and a dual-channel Air Data Attitude Heading Reference System (ADAHRS).

Available APEX options include a Traffic Advisory System (TAS), Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS), radio altimeter, Mode S diversity transponder, Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), Automatic Direction Finder (ADF), and Honeywell’s Flight Information Service (FIS).

“APEX will deliver enhanced situational awareness for Ae270 pilots by integrating all major safety sensor and flight control information,” said Dan Barks, Director of Marketing, Honeywell Business, Regional and General Aviation. “Created using technology derived from air transport and business aviation aircraft, APEX delivers information integration and a user-friendly design, improving the pilot’s ability to fly in today’s changing airspace environment.”

The APEX system is an integrated cockpit from an industry leader. “We are pleased to have concluded this important agreement with Honeywell allowing Ibis to offer leading edge future cockpit innovation to Ae270 customers,” said Jeff Conrad, Ibis Vice President of Marketing.

The Ae270 Propjet is a large-cabin, pressurized aircraft designed to carry up to 10 people (1–2 crew plus 8–9 passengers). It will cover stage lengths of up to 1,544 NM with fuel reserves. The Ae270 is capable of a 270-knot maximum cruise speed and a useful load capacity of up to 3,300 lbs. As a 6–7 passenger executive transport it provides ease of operation, safety, economy and comfort only available in larger, more expensive aircraft. The Ae270 can also be configured for bulk cargo. The Ae270 Propjet is redefining the mission capability and economics of general aviation aircraft for today’s transportation needs.
