HQ, Production Facilities Pass Inspection
Light sport aircraft manufacturer Flight Design says it's
serious about quality... and backs that up through conducting
internal audits as required by ASTM standards that govern LSA
certification. Flight Design has also obtained German LTF-BfU seal
of approval, and recently completed independent audits from the
Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association (LAMA). And most recently,
Flight Design successfully completed ISO 9001-2000
certification.
"The principal company philosophy of Flight Design is to achieve
complete customer satisfaction," said CEO Matthias Betsch. "To
improve quality and processes Flight Design has first participated
successfully an LAMA audit in 2007. To further improve systems in
2008, Flight Design went through the ISO 9001-2000 certification
process."
The March 2008 audit was made by the T†V who also
specializes in ISO 9100 (aerospace quality management systems)
audits. T†V is Germany's oldest organization for technical
approvals and is an organization with an outstanding reputation
worldwide. The T†V Lead Auditor for quality management
systems, a very experienced aerospace auditor, led the Flight
Design audit.
Flight Design successfully completed the first audit with a
final report that did not show a single discrepancy and after the
full three-day audit the two auditors had only some
recommendations. The ISO 9001-2000 audit includes Flight Design in
Germany and its design and manufacturing facilities in Kherson,
Ukraine.
"Flight Design and its employees are very proud for this
outstanding result," stated Betsch. "Our whole team is highly
motivated to continuously improve."
Flight Design officials extended special thanks to Mr. Udo Verhufen
from "Return on Quality" who did an excellent job in consulting
Flight Design regarding the ISO 9001-2000 system.
Flight Design is a 22-year-old air sport products producer based
in Germany. Over 1,000 of its aircraft are flying in 25 countries,
including one of the first aircraft certified under the American
ASTM standards, the CT.
