NTSB Terminates Intern Who Confirmed Asiana Pilots' 'Names'

Report Indicates That Person Is 'No Longer With The Agency'

We may probably never know who it was, but the NTBS has reportedly canned the intern who confirmed false, racially insensitive names of the pilots who were flying Asiana Flight 214 to a San Francisco television station.

The Los Angeles Times relays a report from CNN that quoted a "government official with knowledge of the situation" who said the intern was "no longer with the agency."

The NTSB sent an e-mail to the paper indicating that while it does not "discuss or disclose information relating to personnel matters," it has dealt with the "situation."

Board spokeswoman Kelly Nantel also said the board is taking a look at its policies to be sure such a situation does not happen in the future.

In an apology after television station KTUV reported the false names, the NTSB said "We work hard to ensure that only appropriate factual information regarding an investigation is released and deeply regret today's incident."

It may not be an internship that he or she puts on their resume.
