Continental Invests 40 Million In Upgrading Their Manufacturing Facilities

Recently Acquired Southern Avionics, United Turbine And ECI

By Tom Woodward

Continental is aggressively forging ahead to be the leader in the aircraft engine industry. Their aim this year is to improve their overall customer support, continue with new product development through internal engineering and purchasing target companies to enhance and fill out their product line. Through their acquisition of companies like Southern Avionics, United Turbine and ECI they are well on their way.

Rhett Ross, President and CEO of Continental who has to be the most personable CEO of any company said that Continental was entering their 115th year of operation. The 40 million dollars that will be invested in new manufacturing facilities will begin in November of this year with the plan to have the facility complete by the third quarter of 2018.

Continental Motors announces the expansion of their diesel engine market with the CD-265 and CDR-285 (265 hp/285 respectively) engines. The CD-265 is intended for the fixed wing market while the CD-285 is designed for the rotary wing market.

As the other members of the CD-200 family, the CD-265 and CDR-285 are air-cooled, boxer style turbo charged engines producing 265 HP at 2500 rpm and 285 hp at 2700 rpm. Both derive from the CD-230 that was first certified by Continental Motors in December 2012.

The CD-265 and CDR-285 join a complete range of Diesel engines that are already certified today. With six different certified Diesel engines, Continental Motors is the undisputed industry leader and offers solutions for each category of airframe, for fixed wing or rotorcraft applications.

Continental has received EASA certification for their CD-300, V6 diesel engine. The CD-300 displaces three-liters and generate 300 hp at a low 2340 rpm. Offering unprecedented low noise levels for an engine of that displacement. As with most of the Continental engine line, the CD-300 come with a single lever control and dual, fully redundant electronic engine and propeller management system (FADEC). Additionally direct injection, liquid cooling, twin turbocharging and advanced reduction gear system complete the State of the art design features.

At Oshkosh Continental has announced a time limited promotion on their new line of cylinders for the Titan and . Lycoming engines. Customers can expect to save up to $600. Tis offer is good for angle and parallel valve engines and ends September 17, 2017. Their cylinders offer many unique advantageous:
