FAA Expands Boeing Commercial Airplanes Production Certificate

South Carolina Operation Added After Demonstrating It Meets FAA Requirements

The FAA has added Boeing's South Carolina operations to the company's Commercial Airplanes production certificate, PC 700. The production certificate allows the company to produce and sell commercial airplanes.

"This is a very exciting day for Boeing South Carolina, the South Carolina Interiors Responsibility Center, and Boeing Commercial Airplanes," said Jack Jones, Boeing South Carolina vice president and general manager, announcing the move Wednesday. "Earning the right to join the production certificate is a significant achievement that validates Boeing South Carolina as a producer of commercial airplanes that meet the FAA's requirements and Boeing's high standards."

The certificate is issued once an airplane manufacturer has demonstrated to the FAA that its facilities and quality management system meet the agency's stringent safety and reliability requirements.

Boeing South Carolina's addition to the Boeing production certificate follows an extremely successful FAA Manufacturing Inspection District Office audit that validated the sites' compliance with the Boeing Quality Management System. "Our challenge now is to improve even more on our abilities, knowledge, and skill that were so favorably acknowledged during the audit. I believe we will do just that, because of the personal ownership and accountability of the Boeing South Carolina team," said Jones.
