NASA Observes Day of Remembrance

In Memoriam

On Thursday, 26 January 2023, NASA observed a day of remembrance, honoring those who lost their lives in pursuit of humankind’s exploration of space’s eternal vastness. In addition to the brave souls lost in the Columbia disaster, the agency seeks to honor astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee, the crew of Apollo I, who perished in a launch-pad fire during a 27 January 1967 training exercise, and the seven spacefarers who perished in 1986’s Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.

On Wednesday, 25 January 2023, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a rare bipartisan bill addressing the shortcomings of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) NOTAM system and recommending improvements to such. Dubbed the NOTAM Improvement Act, the legislation espouses the creation of a task force charged with devising and presenting means by which to boost the NOTAM system’s security, stability, and robustness.

Diamond-Aeromot Partnership to Assemble DA62s in Brazil

Chinese-Owned, Austria-Based, Brazil-Built, Universal Appeal

Diamond Aircraft—the Austria-based, Chinese-owned maker of general aviation aircraft with manufacturing facilities in Wiener Neustadt, Austria and London, Ontario, Canada—announced on 25 January 2023 that it had signed an agreement by which Aeromot, the company’s Brazil-based sales partner, will assemble DA62 aircraft in Porto Alegre, Brazil under license from Diamond Aircraft Canada. Per the licensing agreement, Diamond Aircraft Canada will provide the DA62 kits and ongoing support.

It's looking possible that France will go solo on the development of its own maritime patrol aircraft, possibly tapping German interests to complete a domestic European alternative to American ISR and ASW aircraft. No Witnesses Observed The Accident

On January 11, 2023, about 1924 central standard time, a Cessna 150H, N22859, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Farington Field Airport (K01), Auburn, Nebraska.
