First-Of-Its-Kind, Full Day Seminar

On Tuesday February 28, 2023, FSANA is offering a first-of-its-kind, full day seminar the day before the start of the FSANA annual conference and trade show in Orlando. Accrediting organizations typically operate two accreditation seminars during the calendar year. The seminar will fulfill the requirement which is included in the updated accreditation standards being rolled out in March 2023.

EAA’s Canadian Council is currently seeking candidates for open membership positions. Canadian Council members are dedicated volunteers that regularly work with EAA headquarters, EAA Chapters, EAA Canada, and Canadian members to promote aviation throughout Canada. Members hold periodic conference calls to discuss business, as well as gather annually at AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. During AirVenture, members are encouraged to help support the EAA Canadian HQ Tent and associated event activities.

New technologies are encouraging a number of organizations to reach out and partner up... The FAA and the Korea Office of Civil Aviation (KOCA) agreed to partner on future Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) aircraft development and operations. The agencies signed a Declaration of Cooperation under which they will collaborate on AAM projects and share ideas, information, skills, and techniques.

MD Helicopters introduced a new concept aircraft at Heli-EXPO 2017, in Dallas, that the company says will fill a number of gaps in the helicopter market. Craig Kitchen, Chief Commercial Officer for MD Helicopters, told ANN CEO and Editor in Chief Jim Campbell that the missions for the MD6XX helicopter will range from a top level gunship platform that offers speed and endurance to an EMS aircraft.

Contract Will Produce 12 New CH-47F Chinooks For The Egyptian Air Force

The U.S. Army has awarded Boeing a contract to produce 12 new CH-47F Chinooks for the Egyptian Air Force. With this $426 million foreign military sale, Egypt will replace its fleet of CH-47D aircraft with the modern F model, and benefit from its advanced multi-mission capabilities. “The F-model aircraft will enhance Egypt’s Chinook capabilities and help effectively accomplish its heavy-lift objectives,” said Ken Eland, vice president and H-47 program manager.

He Saw The Airplane Strike An Unmarked Tram Cable That Ran Across The River 

On November 10, 2022, about 1140 Alaska standard time, a Piper PA-18 airplane, N7123K, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Chickaloon, Alaska. The student pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to a friend of the pilot, the accident airplane and a Cessna 172 airplane were flying together, as a flight of two airplanes, along the Matanuska River. He stated they departed Wolf Lake Airport (4AK6), Palmer, Alaska, about 1100, and both airplanes were returning to 4AK6 when the accident occurred.

AD 2022-26-05 Prompted By Reports Of Cracks On The HPT Stage 2 Intermediate Air Seal Attachment Bolts

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co KG (RRD) TAY 620-15 and TAY 650-15 model turbofan engines. This AD was prompted by reports of cracks on the high-pressure turbine (HPT) stage 2 intermediate air seal attachment bolts (attachment bolts). This AD requires repetitive inspections of the HPT stage 2 intermediate air seal and attachment bolts and, depending on the results of the inspections, replacement of attachment bolts and the HPT stage 1 and stage 2 rotor disks, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference.

AIRMETs concern weather of less severity than that covered by SIGMETs or Convective SIGMETs. AIRMETs cover moderate icing, moderate turbulence, sustained winds of 30 knots or more at the surface, widespread areas of ceilings less than 1,000 feet and/or visibility less than 3 miles, and extensive mountain obscurement.
