The Commemorative Air Force has announced a generous $500,000 matching grant from the Ray Foundation to aid in funding the Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center at the CAF’s headquarters in Dallas. The Ray Foundation will match all funds raised dollar-for-dollar, up to $500,000, received through December 31, 2021. The CAF has raised $13 million against a campaign goal of $14 million. The gift comes as construction of the Education Center nears completion this spring. The Henry B. U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector have detected more than 3,000 individuals with the assistance of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2021, Oct. 1. “sUAS platforms frequently work in conjunction with our manned aircraft flown by CBP Air and Marine Operations,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II. “Our agents will take over monitoring and tracking groups via small unmanned aircraft systems which enables manned aircraft pilots to move on in search of other groups. NTSB Prelim: Beech F33

The Pilot Announced That He Was Performing A Missed Approach

On January 13, 2021 about 1033 eastern standard time, a Beech F33A, N266DC, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Columbia, South Carolina. The private pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. Preliminary radar and air traffic control voice communication data provided by the Federal Aviation Administration indicated the airplane departed runway 19 at Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) Greenville, South Carolina about 0959 under visual flight rules.
