AEA Unveils Third-Quarter 2020 Avionics Market Report

Total Sales Exceed $1.6 Billion In First Nine Months Of 2020 -- Down 27% Over 3Q/19

AEA has released its third-quarter 2020 Avionics Market Report. In the first nine months of the year, total worldwide business and general aviation avionics sales amounted to $1,670,804,856.73, or more than $1.6 billion as reported by the participating companies. The figure represented a 27% decrease in total sales compared to the first nine months of 2019. During the third-quarter months of July, August and September, sales decreased 33.4% compared to the same time frame one year ago. However, sales in the third quarter of 2020 were up 5.9% compared to the second quarter of this year, with retrofit sales up 10.8% over the second quarter.

DDC Expects To Complete Further Condor Testing In Q4 2020

Drone Delivery Canada (DDC) has provided an update on the Condor drone from successful testing at the Alma, Quebec Unmanned Aerial System Centre of Excellence. On Sept. 1, DDC announced that it had successfully tested several critical aspects of the Condor, including triple-redundant communications system (satellite, cellular, 900MHz RF); triple-redundant navigational guidance system; triple-redundant autopilot system; monitoring of unmanned flights remotely from DDC’s Operations Control Centre in Vaughan, Ontario; general flight stability and performance; and fuel consumption characteristics.

The Astronauts Are Scheduled To Lift Off At 1949 EST Saturday, Nov. 14

The astronauts that will soon launch to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 mission arrived Sunday at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida to start final preparations for liftoff. NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, and Shannon Walker, along with Soichi Noguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), landed via plane at the Launch and Landing Facility at Kennedy after departing earlier that day from Ellington Field near the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Coast Guard aircrews rescued two men Monday morning from a capsized boat in the British Virgin Islands, and they also rescued a man and a woman from a disabled jet ski Sunday night near Luquillo, Puerto Rico. In two other separate search and rescue cases during the weekend in Puerto Rico, two swimmers were recovered deceased just off the beach in the Condado area of San Juan, while a 19-year-old male was also recovered deceased just off Vacia Talega Beach near Pinones, Loiza.

Red Cat Holdings, has completed the acquisition of Fat Shark Holdings, a provider of headsets and goggles for professional FPV (First Person View) drone racers and drone pilots with an estimated market share of 85%. Weather Reconnaissance Area (WRA) A WRA is airspace with defined dimensions and published by Notice to Airmen, which is established to support weather reconnaissance/research flights. Air traffic control services are not provided within WRAs. Only participating weather reconnaissance/research aircraft from the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Aircraft Operations Center are permitted to operate within a WRA. A WRA may only be established in airspace within U.S. Flight Information Regions outside of U.S. territorial airspace.
