AMA Drone Report 01.30.20: FAA Kills NPRM Extension, UAVs v Pythons, NTSB

Inconceivably; the FAA has failed to listen to some of the most expert and authoritative voices, in aviation, once again. Earlier this month, AMA, EAA and several other groups requested that the FAA extend the official comment period on the proposed rule for remote identification of UAS (Remote ID). AMA has been informed that the FAA has declined this request. The comment period will end on March 2, 2020. Fighting for a better remote ID rule continues to be AMA’s top priority. FAA Awards STC To Maxcraft Avionics

Authorizes Installation Of Garmin GTN750H Navigator In AS-365 Dauphin Helicopters

The FAA has awarded an STC to Canadian avionics shop Maxcraft Avionics Ltd authorizing the Garmin GTN725H or GTN750H Navigator to be installed in a series of Airbus Helicopter Dauphin models, including SA-365N, SA-365N1, AS-365N2 and AS-365N3. The system is fully approved to conduct LPV and LNAV/VNAV coupled approaches. This new FAA STC follows Maxcraft’s initial Canadian TCCA STC.
