Poll: U.S. Citizens Support Unarmed Domestic UAVs

But Public Also Prefers Requiring Court Orders First

As the federal government moves closer to formulating a policy for the domestic use of unmanned aerial vehicles, a Monmouth University Poll finds the American public continues to support many applications of this technology. The public is not overwhelmingly confident, though, that federal or local law officials will use drones appropriately and they back provisions to require court orders before employing drones for police operations.

Cessna celebrated Friday as the first production unit of its newest business jet, the Citation M2, took its maiden flight out of the company’s Independence, KS, facility. Helicopter Carrying 18 Ditched Two Nautical Miles Offshore

A CHC Helicopter AS332L2 aircraft landed in the water Friday about two nautical miles west of Sumburgh, on Shetland Island in the U.K. The company said in a statement in its website that the helicopter had traveled from Aberdeen to two North Sea oil-and-gas rigs before returning to Sumburgh. The aircraft was on approach to Sumburgh Airport at about 6:20 p.m. local time when contact was lost with air traffic control.

Groundbreaking advancements to F-16 Fighting Falcon warfare training arrived at Misawa Air Base in Japan during the week of Aug. 12 through 16 in the form of a Joint Deployable Electronic Warfare Range, or JDEWR. The JDEWR is a weapon system that provides tactical-level training to participants in live training events. It's implemented as a threat capable of submitting ground threat defenses for bilateral and joint missions and exercises for United States Air Force, Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Navy aircraft stationed in Japan.
