MOU Signed At Japanese Prime Minister's Official Residence
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Arianespace S.A. have concluded a memorandum of understanding (MOU) pertaining primarily to implementation of joint proposals relating to commercial space rocket launches. An exchange of the MOU documents took place at the Japanese Prime Minister’s official residence.
CTOL Variant Fired An AIM-120 Over The Pacific Ocean
A CTOL F-35A completed the first in-flight missile launch of an AIM-120 over the Point Mugu Sea Test Range, June 5. It was the first launch where the F-35 and AIM-120 demonstrated a successful launch-to-eject communications sequence and fired the rocket motor after launch -- paving the way for targeted launches in support of the Block 2B fleet release capability later this year.

Remotely controlled aircraft designed by high school seniors took to the air for the first time in the culmination of a mentoring program sponsored by Northrop Grumman Corporation. The flight demonstrations, conducted during the last week of May, served as the "final exam" of a four-month curriculum in aircraft development to encourage students to consider careers in engineering.
Milestone Reached During Change Of Command Ceremony May 31
Training Air Wing TWO (TW-2) at Naval Air Station (NAS) Kingsville marked its 700,000th training hour in the T-45 'Goshawk' aircraft May 31. They reached the milestone during an in-flight change of command ceremony for the VT-22 Reserve Squadron (VT-22R), with Marine Lt. Col. Barry Dowell turning over command of the squadron to Navy Cmdr. Gary Huss.
Rare Opportunity To Capture Images From Double-Star System T Pyx
A flash of light from a stellar outburst has provided a rare look at the 3-D structure of material ejected by an erupting nova. Astronomers used NASA's Hubble Space Telescope to observe the light emitted by the close double-star system T Pyxidis, or T Pyx, a recurring nova, during its latest outburst in April 2011.
Dry winds in the Diablo mountain range in central California that can exceed 60 miles per hour. Similar to the Santa Ana winds, they develop as the wind flows from high pressure over Nevada to lower pressure along the central California coast.

The Yosemite Hang Gliding Association is a chapter of the United States Hang Gliding Association chartered for the purpose of administrating Hang Gliding activities at Yosemite National Park. Imagine launching from 7214 feet and soaring around mountain peaks that tower thousands of feet over your head and then aiming for a grassy meadow in the valley. The air is clean and brisk, the view is one of the best in the world, the flight time is long and you are hanging out with good friends. It can't get much better than this.
