Flight Restrictions Set For G-20 Summit In September

Preliminary TFR Issued By FAA

The G-20 Summit will be held in Pittsburgh from September 24 to September 25. Before and during the G-20 Summit, the President of the United States and a number of other world leaders are expected to arrive in the area. TFR's will be in place for the duration of the summit.

Organization Spent Time With Congress, TSA, FAA, EPA, CBO, And Others

AOPA made the rounds of elected officials and government agencies in Washington in April, May, and June. A financial disclosure form reports that the organization spent $640,000 in those three months on lobbying efforts in the Nation's Capital.

Airlines Say Weather, Construction Are To Blame

Two planes were delayed in New York City on their way to Minneapolis, which resulted in hundreds of people sitting on airliners for up to five and a half hours Friday.

No Major Injuries Reported In The Emergency Landing

A pilot flying a 1965 Comanche 260 experienced engine failure Saturday morning, but was able to make an emergency landing on U.S. 101 just outside Santa Barbara. Neither the two people on the plane nor anyone on the ground was seriously injured in the incident.

12 Others Are Reassigned In The Company

Bell Helicopter has reduced it's production workforce by 30 employees, citing the ongoing recession which has reduced the demand for commercial aircraft. 42 positions had originally been targeted, but 12 of those employees have been reassigned within the company.

Motorist Calls 911, Responders Find 2 Foot Long Aircraft

Apparently those radio-controlled models can be pretty lifelike, at least from a distance. A motorist crossing the Interstate 526 bridge over the Wando River in Charleston, South Carolina saw a smoking aircraft plunging towards the water and called 911, scrambling three fire trucks and a battalion chief to the scene.
