Rolls-Royce has achieved FAA certification of an enhanced
full-authority digital engine control (FADEC) system for the Model
250-C47B turboshaft. This enhanced FADEC will benefit operators of
the Bell 407 helicopter.
Officials with Helicopter Support Inc., a subsidiary of Sikorsky
Aircraft, and American Eurocopter reportedly jumped the gun a
little bit Sunday at HAI Heli-Expo 2006, announcing an agreement
between the two companies for HSI to become an American Eurocopter
service center one day early.
Eurocopter and its UK distributor, McAlpine Helicopters Limited,
have confirmed orders for three new Eurocopter EC 145 helicopters
by the London Metropolitan Police Authority.
The “Met” will be the first UK customer to operate the
EC 145 in the police role and, following an extensive completion
phase at McAlpine’s Oxford facility, these helicopters are
scheduled to enter service between late 2006 and early 2007.

Rolls-Royce has released its annual ten-year forecast of
worldwide turbine helicopter deliveries. The forecast projects
worldwide deliveries of turbine-powered helicopters and rotary-wing
unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) in all size classes, both civil and
military, from 2006 until the end of year 2015.

With 150 preliminary orders for the Bell 429 on the books, Bill
Stromberg, Executive Director of Commercial Program Management and
program manager for Bell's 429, reports that the helicopter is
meeting all performance, weight, and schedule commitments.
Air Methods Corporation, the largest air medical transportation
providers in the United States, has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) today with American Eurocopter to acquire an
additional 15 EC135 helicopters.
