Hughes A269A May Not Have Been Airworthy

Environmental Tectonics Corporation has confirmed the successful factory acceptance testing of the first G-FET II equipped as an Authentic Tactical Flight Simulator (Model ATFS-400). Over the past two years ETC has developed and produced the G-FET II for a Southeast Asian customer, a project that has produced the world's most advanced tactical flight simulator. The G-FET II is the only human rated centrifuge in service today that is capable of providing the precise variable G cues (forces caused by maneuvering the aircraft) needed for realistic air combat training for fighter pilots.

Caravan That Went Down In Lake Erie Was Overweight

The Canadian Transportation Safety Board reported Tuesday a Cessna 208B Caravan that went down in Lake Erie last January, killing 10 people, was about 15-percent over its maximum weight. Although the C-TSB says weight was probably a factor in the accident, it has not been ruled as the cause.

D-Day Vets Plan To Jump Over Normandy -- Without US Army's Permission

An Ohio veteran who wants to re-enact the D-Day airborne jump into Nazi-occupied France is fed up with waiting for permission. Howard Greenberg of Bay Village, along with ten other WWII vets are jumping -- with or without permission from the US military.

Both Targeted American Airlines

Two American Airlines flights -- one from Philadelphia and one from Boston -- were grounded and searched Wednesday. In each instance, passengers were removed from the aircraft before the flight was allowed to continue. In one case, the flight didn't continue -- but was cancelled.

Named Bell's H-1 Program Director

Kevin Connell, a 25-year aerospace industry veteran has been named H-1 Program Director for Bell Helicopter. Connell, most recently Bell's Executive Director, Commercial Programs replaces Chris Becker, who has decided to leave Bell for another position in the aerospace industry.
