Aerobatic Plane Down During Festival In Finowfurt, Germany

Witnesses Said Airplane Not Part Of The Official Program

An aerobatic airplane which made an inverted, high-speed low pass over a drag strip in Finowfurt, Germany where a car and music festival was being held impacted the ground following the pass, resulting in the fatal injury of the pilot.

Problems Discovered With Rudder Pedals And Cables

The FAA has issued a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) following the discovery of problems with rudder pedals and cables in Jonker Sailplanes Models JS1A and JS1B sailplanes. These sailplanes are not type certificated in the United States and, therefore, the condition is not addressed by FAA airworthiness directive (AD) action.

Builder Hopes To Reprise First Around-The-World Flight

In April 1924, four converted WWI Douglas torpedo bombers re-christened "World Cruisers" set off from Sand Point, which at the time was Seattle's Municipal Airport, on an attempt to fly around the world. Two of the aircraft completed the journey after six months and 70 stops along the way.

Accident Occurred On Takeoff From Oxnard Airport

An accident involving a modified Vans airplane belonging to James Ayres, president of Less Drag Products in Newbury Park, CA, fatally injured Ayres and his passenger, identified as Donald "Craig" Templeton of Agoura Hills.
