L-3 Presents First Joint Cargo Aircraft To US Army And Air Force

Formal Acceptance Of C-27J To Take Place In October

L-3 Communications, prime contractor for the US Army and Air Force Joint Cargo Aircraft (JCA) program, announced Thursday it has presented the first C-27J JCA to the joint program office on schedule and on budget. The aircraft is the first of 78 planned to be delivered to the Department of Defense. The current contract is valued in excess of $2 billion.

Pratt & Whitney Awarded Production Contract For F135 Turbofans

Will Support First 12 Production F-35 Lightning IIs

Pratt & Whitney was awarded a production contract worth up to $491 million (including options) for F135 propulsion systems to power the F-35 Lightning II. This second F135 low rate initial production contract will support 12 F-35 production aircraft, including six short-takeoff/vertical-landing (STOVL) and six conventional take-off/landing (CTOL). Propulsion system deliveries are scheduled to begin in third quarter 2009.
