GE38 Turboshaft Engines Accumulate 2,300 Test Hours

Engine Developed For Sikorsky's Ch-53K Helicopter

Four GE38 turboshaft engines continue to demonstrate maturity and durable operating capabilities at GE’s testing facility in Lynn, Massachusetts, and MTU’s testing facility in Munich, Germany, supporting Sikorsky Aircraft’s CH-53K heavy-lift helicopter program in development for the U.S. Marine Corps.  A fifth factory test engine will join the program later this year.

Record Two Million Gallons Of Retardant Dropped On Wildfires This Season

Air Force Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System-equipped C-130s reached a major mission milestone Aug. 24 by dropping the 2 millionth gallon of retardant for the season. MAFFS 5, assigned to the Air Force Reserve Command's 302nd Airlift Wing, dropped the record-breaking gallon during its third sortie of the day battling the Halstead fire north of Stanley, ID.

New UAS Training School Welcomes Marines

Future Unmanned Air System Operators Now Have Access To A New Training And Logistics Activity At Camp Lejeune, NC

A team from the Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical UAS program office (PMA-263) at Camp Lejeune, NC launched the Training and Logistics Support Activity (TALSA) in mid-July to Marines from II Marine Expeditionary Force. The activity allows troops to receive UAS training on short notice and expand the previous curriculum to include all Group I UAS assets.

GE Aviation Signs Contract For Systems On Boeing KC-46A Tanker

Will Provide Mission Systems Including FMS

GE Aviation announced Tuesday that they have signed an agreement with Boeing potentially worth up to $180 million to provide the mission control system for the U.S. Air Force’s KC-46A tanker. The agreement includes design, development and production throughout the life of the program.
