New Wildcat Helicopter Unveiled At Farnborough

First Of 62 Delivered To UK MoD By AgustaWestland

The Defence Secretary has today unveiled the first of a new fleet of Wildcat helicopters, and confirmed a $358 million contract to support them. The first two of 62 Wildcat helicopters ordered by the MOD were handed over by manufacturer AgustaWestland at the Farnborough International Airshow.

Witnesses: Airplane's Drogue Chute Deployed, The Collapsed And Detached

A MiG 21 has been involved in a runway excursion in Eden Prairie, MN, as the pilot was attempting to land at Flying Cloud Airport (KFCM).  Witnesses say the airplane's drogue chute deployed, but then collapsed and detached, so that the pilot was not able to stop before reaching the runway threshold.

RAF's Newest Transport Aircraft Named Atlas

New Moniker For The Airplane Previously Known As The A400M

The RAF's next generation military transport aircraft has officially been named Atlas at the Royal International Air Tattoo, which is taking place at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. The aircraft, which has until now been known as the A400M, will replace the RAF's existing C-130 Hercules fleet and, along with the Voyager and C-17, will provide the UK military's future air transport force.

Lockheed Martin Delivers Four F-35s To U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps

Moves Number Of Operational Aircraft Past The Test Fleet

With the delivery of four Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II aircraft since June 29, an important milestone was achieved as the Department of Defense now possesses more operational-coded F-35s than test aircraft. A total of nine F-35s have been delivered for the year, giving the DOD a total of 30 aircraft fleet-wide. Of these, 16 are operational aircraft and 14 are test planes.
