BAE Systems has completed the first flight test of the Boeing
CH-47 Chinook Digital Advanced Flight Control System (DAFCS). This
first flight represents a significant milestone in the Chinook
program.
A flight control system problem caused an F/A-22 Raptor to crash
on the runway at Nellis Air Force Base, NV, on December 20th,
according to an Air Force report released June 8th.
The pilots of the gliders at the Caen Canal and Orne River
bridges, between Ranville and Benouville, were all Staff Sergeants
of the Glider Pilot Regiment. The co-pilots handled the navigation,
the pilots did the flying.
With more than 95 percent of their development complete, the
five aircraft of the 84 percent identical AH-1Z and UH-1Y
helicopters currently in flight test marked their 3,000th flight
hour June 1 during weapons accuracy testing in Yuma, AZ.
