Software Upgrade Corrects 72 'Deficiencies' Documented During Previous Test Programs

In 2006, the C-5 Galaxy underwent a "super" upgrade to further strengthen the airframe's worldwide airlift capabilities. Test at Edwards AFB and at Dover Air Force Base, DE, are showing why the recent software upgrade to the largest aircraft in the Air Force inventory -- now known as the C-5M Super Galaxy -- is no small task.

Helo Instructor Pilot Honored By The USO Of Metropolitan New York

A helicopter instructor pilot from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 2 was selected as the Navy's Woman of the Year honoree for the USO of Metropolitan New York, May 2. Lt. Janis Harrington was one of five female service members - one from each branch of the armed forces - who received the award in commemoration of their dedication, achievements, and service to the country.

Satellite Links Greatly Improve Situational Awareness, Boeing Says

U.S. Air Force B-52 bombers are being upgraded with digital communications systems from Boeing that will allow aircrews can send and receive information via satellite links, allowing crews to change mission plans and retarget weapons in flight and better interact with aircraft and ground forces. To date, mission information has been uploaded to a B-52 only before a flight, not during.
