The pilots of two Italian Air Force F-16s are safe after their
jets collided in flight off the Sardinia coast Monday night. The
planes were participating the international "Spring Slag 2006"
drill near Decimomannu air base, near Cagliari.
The new British ambassador to Afghanistan had a close call
earlier this week, when the military C-130 transport plane he was
on caught fire as it was landing at an airstrip in Helmand
province.
