Doolittle Raiders Honored At 70th Anniversary Ceremony

Only Five Of The Men Who Flew The Mission Still Survive

The five remaining members of the famous Jimmy Doolittle Tokyo Raid were honored in a banquet at the National Museum of the United States Air Force here April 19. Four of the raiders were in attendance; Staff Sgt. David J. Thatcher, Maj. Thomas C. Griffin and Lt. Cols. Richard E. Cole and Edward J. Saylor. The fifth, Lt. Col. Robert L. Hite, was unable to attend for health reasons.

Visits Planned To Eight Cities As The Air Show Season Gets Rolling

The CAF B-29 and B-24 Squadron has announced dates for stops along the east coast in May and June 2012. The Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Diamond Lil” and the world’s only flying Boeing B-29 Superfortress “Fifi” will be touring the east coast of the U.S. and Canada, and will be joined by the Cavanaugh Flight Museum’s North American P-51 Mustang “The Brat III.”

Swift action by members of EAA and Warbirds of America, plus other aviation enthusiasts, made a difference in reversing a threat to warbird aircraft posed by a possible amendment to the House National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 4310). Thousands of EAA members and aviators contacted their congressional representatives.
