The National Aeronautic Association (NAA) will present the 2011 Mackay Trophy to the members of the crews of Petro 83 flight. The crews of Pedro 83 Flight distinguished themselves in Combat Search and Rescue operations on 23 April 2011 while assigned to the 83d Expeditionary Rescue Squadron, Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan.
Grounds Fire Scout Fleet While Procedures Are Reviewed
The Navy recently experienced two unrelated operational mishaps with the MQ-8B Fire Scout unmanned helicopter. There were no injuries to personnel and no damage to other aircraft.
A mix of personnel from the 477th Fighter Group, 3rd Wing, and 673rd Air Base Wing left Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, to participate in a long range strike exercise on April 4. F-22 Raptors and E-3's assigned to the 3rd Wing along with F-16s from Misawa Air Base, Japan, B-1's from Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD, and KC-135s from Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, participated in the U.S. Strategic Command operation.
