September Deployment Will Mark Tiltrotor's First Combat
Mission
After years of testing marred by a number of incidents,
including a pair of fatal accidents, the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor
transport aircraft will head for its first combat deployment in
September, the US Marine Corps said Friday.

Boeing tells ANN it has conducted a successful first mission
system test flight of an Airborne Warning and Control System
(AWACS) aircraft upgraded under the Block 40/45 program, the
largest enhancement in the history of the US Air Force E-3 AWACS
fleet.
Aero-News learned this week BAE Systems recently received a
$26.5 million contract to convert 20 F-4 Phantom fighter jets to
full-scale aerial targets for the US Air Force.
Comprehensive Avionics Mod Program For Stalwart Transport
Boeing told ANN this week the second C-130 Avionics
Modernization Program (AMP) aircraft flew for the first time late
last month, marking a significant step forward in what Boeing calls
the most comprehensive C-130 avionics modification ever
conducted.
