Inadvertent Takeoff Causes Damage To Wing, Right Engine
US Navy Secretary Donald Winter said last week he remains
confident in the Marines' plans to deploy the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor
aircraft, despite its troubled development history and a minor
accident March 27.
A pilot involved in a 2002 friendly fire bombing in Afghanistan
that killed four Canadian soldiers and injured eight others is
suing the US Air Force, claiming military officials ruined his
reputation as a pilot by releasing a letter of reprimand for the
incident.
Flew B-29 and UH-1 In Combat; Medal Of Honor Recipient
Retired Chief Warrant Officer Mike Novosel died last Monday,
April 2, at Walter Reed Army Hospital. Novosel fought his battles
with time, and with colon cancer, with the same doughty strength
that he brought to fights against Japan, North Korea, and North
Vietnam, but this last battle was one that courage alone could not
win.
An unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile was
launched from Vandenberg Friday at 6 a.m. The launch was part of a
developmental test to demonstrate the weapon system’s
effectiveness in a stressed environment on extended range.
Michigan senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow hailed final
