The second short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) F-35B
Lightning II accomplished its first flight on Wednesday, February
25. The aircraft, known as BF-2, joins a conventional takeoff and
landing (CTOL) F-35A and another STOVL F-35B that already have
logged a combined total of 84 flights.
A major milestone was reached Wednesday, as the first set of
wings for the RAF's advanced new fleet of tanker aircraft left
Airbus UK's Broughton plant in North Wales. The wings were loaded
onto a giant Beluga aircraft to transport them to the
Toulouse-based production facility where the new tanker aircraft
will be assembled.

Lockheed Martin has been selected by the United Arab Emirates to
provide 12 C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft to modernize
the country's tactical airlift fleet. The announcement was made by
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President,
Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, at the IDEX Defence Exhibition
in Abu Dhabi.
