It's not a "grounding," per se... but for the next day or so,
the US Air Force would prefer not to fly its remaining 20-plane
fleet of B-2 Spirit bombers, following the weekend crash of one of
the stealthy aircraft in Guam.
The Lockheed Martin and AgustaWestland HH-71 Team successfully
conducted aerial refueling tests between an RAF AW101 Merlin Mk3
helicopter and an Italian Air Force KC-130J tanker last week,
further demonstrating the aircraft's capabilities for the US Air
Force's Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR-X) requirement.
Aircraft Passes Gauge Calibration, Tests Of Systems
Last week, BAE Systems told ANN the company completed critical
fuel testing on the first F-35 Lightning II short take off and
vertical landing (STOVL) variant, five days ahead of its schedule
proving the maturity of both the aircraft and program.
Navy Will Conduct Operational Evaluation Later This Year
The US Navy has decided to integrate Northrop Grumman's MQ-8B
Fire Scout Vertical Takeoff and Landing Tactical Unmanned Aerial
Vehicle (VTUAV) onto another air-capable ship before it reaches the
Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). The Fire Scout is still slated to go
aboard the LCS, and the Navy remains committed to transitioning the
Fire Scout in that direction.
