Interceptor Strikes Target... But There Was A Glitch
The US military scored a badly-needed victory Friday in its
quest to implement a full-scale ballistic missile defense shield.
The Missile Defense Agency shot down a mock enemy missile,
employing a synchronized network of sensors in what officials
called the largest and most complex test of the missile defense
system to date.
The pilot of a Russian fighter jet was killed Friday when his
MiG-29 Fulcrum crashed in Siberia... prompting government officials
to temporarily suspend operations with the aircraft.
America's eye in the sky, the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target
Attack Radar System, or Joint STARS, will soon be faster, quieter,
more efficient and more operationally effective with a major engine
upgrade effort now underway at Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts.
