The pilots and ground crew of the Tuskegee Airmen, an all-black
force that served with distinction in World War II, have been
invited to attend the inaugural speech of President-elect Barack
Obama on January 20 in Washington, DC.
Britain's Prince Harry has passed a four-week assessment course
that determined he is a suitable candidate for pilot
training. He flew a total of 13 hours with a civilian
flight instructor in a two-seat Slingsby Firefly at Middle
Wallop.
The Australian Ministry of Defense has awarded a 12 year
contract to General Electric International Incorporated (GEII) to
provide all support for the engines powering the Australian Defence
Force's (ADF) F/A-18A/B Hornet and soon to be acquired F/A-18F
Super Hornet aircraft.
Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
flew aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) December 11 for his
first-ever visit to a US aircraft carrier. Karzai visited the
Nimitz-class aircraft carrier at sea to gain a better understanding
of how the US Navy conducts operations in support of Operation
Enduring Freedom (OEF).
