Aero-News learned Monday that Boeing's Automated Aerial
Refueling (AAR) program successfully completed flight tests in
August that demonstrated for the first time an unmanned air
vehicle's ability to autonomously maintain a steady refueling
station behind a tanker aircraft.
A Russian Antonov-74 belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary
Guard (IRGC) crashed during takeoff Monday from Mehrabad
International Airport in Tehran, killing at least 30 IRGC members
and six crewmembers.
A USAF F-16, currently identified as an F-16CG, has gone down
over Iraq, as confirmed by onsite military officials. The aircraft
went down some 20 miles NW of Baghdad, in Anbar Province, and the
condition of the pilot is yet unknown.
To mark the 65th anniversary of the Japanese attack that thrust
the United States into World War II, the Pacific Aviation Museum
Pearl Harbor in Hawaii is set to open December 7.
