A move by Canada's National Defense to "jump the line" and take
delivery of new helicopters and transport aircraft before the US
military may be just the ticket to bolster Canada's presence in
Afghanistan.
Maj. Robert Mitchell Will Lead Canadian Demonstration Team
Aero-News has learned Major Robert Mitchell, 37, of Victoria, BC
was appointed as the Team Lead and Commanding Officer of 431 (Air
Demonstration) Squadron -- better known as the Canadian Forces
Snowbirds -- on November 14, following a competitive selection
process.
Aircraft assigned to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7 embarked aboard
the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69)
(IKE), continue to provide close air support and reconnaissance to
International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops on the ground
in Afghanistan as part of Operation Eagle.
