FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt delivered remarks to the RTCA
Forum on NextGen Tuesday, saying the reality of problems with
the air traffic control system is not reality TV. "That
really is the taxpayer sitting there 16th in line," Babbitt said in
his prepared remarks.
Elizabeth City State University in northeastern North Carolina
has seen its aviation sciences degree programs grow from just 17
students in 2007 to about 50 enrolled this year, according to
program Director Anthony Sharp. The growth comes despite state
budget cuts that have slowed the growth of the program.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources lost its aviation
unit to budget cuts this year, so the state-owned Bell 206 BII Jet
Ranger has gone on the online auction block. The DNR aviation unit
worked with law enforcement agencies to catch fish poachers, and
illegal hunters, as well as perform SAR missions.
For "representing the best of the aviation industry by bringing
together corporate America as a lifeline for citizens battling
cancer," Corporate Angel Network has received the 2009 Public
Benefit Flying Award from The National Aeronautic Association in
partnership with Air Care Alliance.
