An Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) AV with Ceilometer has been installed at West Houston (TX) Airport (KIWS) by Belfort Instrument Company of Baltimore, MD. KIWS is an FAA designated reliever airport with some 400 based aircraft and 130,000 annual operations.

One of the hands-down favorites of the most recent Oshkosh Fly-In was not a real live airplane.... but a reasonable facsimile thereof. In fact, Redbird Flight Simulations J-3 Cub Simulator, adorned in stereotypical eye-catching Cub Yellow, wowed the crowds at Oshkosh -- and while it was built strictly as a "One-Of-A Kind" promotional gimmick, it caught on with such fervor that the one they brought was sold within hours of the show's opening and others have asked for Cub-Sims of their own.
The FAA has selected Harris Corp. of Melbourne, FL, to support an essential element of NextGen. The program is called the National Airspace System (NAS) Voice System (NVS). NVS replaces the 40-year-old, legacy voice switches with a modern and flexible operational voice capability. NVS supports ground-to-ground voice communications between air traffic controllers and air-to-ground voice communications between controllers and aircraft.
