LightHawk Volunteer Pilot Picks Up Black-Footed Ferret Hitchhikers
This year, LightHawk Volunteer Pilot Michael Baum of Los Altos, CA will make an interesting stop on his way to Oshkosh for AirVentue. The self-described aviation enthusiast, who is a driving force behind the "Aviators Model Code of Conduct" and donates flights through LightHawk, will land in Loveland, CO to load a pair of endangered black-footed ferrets into his TBM 700 airplane bound for Oshkosh, WI.
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) has teamed up with Aerocet, Inc. to help the manufacturer of aviation floats bring its new Kodiak floats to market. With its fleet of 136 light aircraft, Mission Aviation Fellowship provides transportation for churches, medical teams, missionaries, relief agencies and others working in the most isolated corners of the world. It flies mostly Cessna 206s and 208s, along with Kodiaks, King Airs, and a few other planes.
Nearly Half Of The Body Now On Record As Supporting General Aviation
The House General Aviation Caucus recently announced that it has surpassed 200 members, meaning nearly half of the representatives elected to the House now identify themselves as supporters of general aviation. This record number of lawmakers who recognize the significance of general aviation to local, regional and national communities and constituents comes less than one week after the previous record total of 197 House GA Caucus members was announced.
A U.S. registered Cirrus SR22 went down in the English Channel off the coast of Kent, England Sunday. The pilot, the sole occupant of the airplane, has not been found. The BBC reports that a French SAR helicopter located the wreckage of the airplane late Sunday, but a search for the pilot was called off as daylight faded.
