Hartzell Propeller Develops New 3-Blade ASC-II Composite Propeller

Hartzell Propeller Inc. has developed a new 3-blade ASC-II composite propeller for Van's Aircraft RV-10. The new prop is four pounds lighter than Hartzell's previous model due to the certification of a lighter-weight hub. It's available to order directly through Van's Aircraft. Hartzell will deliver the first of its new props to Van's Aircraft in August, 2012.

ForeFlight Earns FAA’s QICP Certification

Allows Company To Be An Official Internet Communications Provider, Weather Source

ForeFlight announced on its blog Wednesday that it has earned certification as an FAA Qualified Internet Communication Provider (QICP). The FAA approval letter was received on Monday of this week. The certification means that Part 121 and 135 operators may now list ForeFlight as their approved QICP, and as an official source for weather information.

Solar Impulse Lands Safely In Toulouse, France

Flight On To Payerne Postponed Due To High Winds

The Solar Impulse aircraft landed successfully at Toulouse-Francazal airport Tuesday, but it's return to Switzerland has been postponed while the crew waits for acceptable weather. Originally planned for Wednesday, the departure to Payerne has been delayed because of growing winds in the area around the Jura, causing strong turbulence in the border region between France and Switzerland.
