Following the fiery downing Friday morning of a Lake 250
amphibian taking off from Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport,
it took the fearless action of a witness to pull a 75-year old
passenger to safety. The 46-year old pilot, Mark Steicht, was able
to stumble out of the smoke-filled cockpit on his own.
The numbers are in... and the Slidell Airshow, held Saturday,
March 31, at Slidell Municipal Airport in Louisiana, attracted an
estimated 10,000 people and raised $5,200 for the St. Tammany
Association for Retarded Citizens. Those numbers reflect attendance
numbers "at least four times larger" than in the past two years,
event organizers tell ANN.
