The FAA is expected to make a decision by March 18 whether to close Florida's Lakeland Linder Regional Airport tower due to the effects of sequestration. But closure of the tower would not necessarily mean there would be no air traffic control for the annual Sun 'n' Fun fly-in scheduled for early April.

NTSB Finds That He Was Well Over The Legal Limit For Operating An Airplane

The pilot of a Cessna 172 which impacted the side of a mountain in Washington State last February had a blood-alcohol level of 1.54. The legal limit for operating an airplane is .04, according to the NTSB. According to the board's factual report on the accident, the pilot held a commercial rating, and he had two other people on board.

Cessna TTx First Production Flight A Success

New Single-Engine Composite Aircraft Called Fastest Fixed-Gear Piston Single In Production

Cessna's new TTx completed its first production flight on Saturday, March 2. The single engine composite aircraft departed from the Cessna facility in Independence, KS, and performed the flight in and around southeast Kansas. "The TTx performed exceptionally well," said Brian Steele, business leader for the TTx. "In the course of the flight, the pilot took the aircraft to 17,000 feet, and achieved a speed of 213 kts.
