Capstone Data Interface Protocol Provides Industry-Standard Interface For The Display Of ADS-B Traffic And FAA Weather Services

Avidyne has announced their support for and participation in the industry standardization effort for the ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) Capstone Data Interface Protocol for the display of traffic and weather services. The Capstone Data Interface Protocol is an RS-422/RS-232 data stream designed to support the display of ADS-B Traffic and Weather broadcast services that comply with the DO-282B and DO-317 standards for ADS-B In.

Garmin’s New Active Traffic Systems Offer Increased Power, Range

Company Says GTS 825 Offers Increased Situational Awareness And Traffic Visualization

Garmin has introduced the GTS 825 Traffic Advisory System (TAS) and the GTS 855 Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS I), offering improved performance and range. The GTS 825 (pictured) and 855 each offer 400 watts of transmit power, and 40 and 80 nautical miles of interrogation range, respectively. All Garmin traffic systems combine active and passive surveillance data to pinpoint specific traffic threats, and use Garmin’s patented CLEAR CAS technology to correlate ADS-B targets, providing pilots with the most comprehensive traffic picture possible.
