Groton, CT ATC Officials Warn Of Safety Issues If Tower Closes

On The List Of Control Towers In Jeopardy Due To Sequestration

Groton-New London Airport (KGON) in Connecticut is one of the 173 facilities with towers slated to be closed April 7 unless congress and President Obama solve their budget stalemate, and the air traffic control manager there says it will make that and other airports far less safe.

FAA Investigating Controller In West Virginia

Accused Of Being Unresponsive On Two Separate Occasions While On Duty

The FAA is looking into accusations that an air traffic controller, whom they have not identified, was unresponsive twice while on the job. During one of those incidents, which occurred earlier this month, two other employees said they saw the controller sleeping while he was assigned to the tower at West Virginia's Yeager Airport.
