For owners, the aircraft's annual maintenance check is a time of
year that most dread; yet, it is as fundamental to aviation safety
as the procedures that every pilot goes through before each
flight. Required by the FAA to meet basic airworthiness
standards, an aircraft's registered owner or operator must complete
a specific number of inspections and maintenance procedures to be
safe (and legal) to fly each year.
