Avidyne Updates DFC90, DFC100 Software

Optional Upgrades Improve Envelope Protection And Alerting

The FAA has granted a pair of STCs to Avidyne for software upgrades to their DFC90 and DFC100 autopilots.

2-blade Conversion Developed In Cooperation With Kent State University Aeronautics Program

The FAA has granted an STC to Hartzell Propeller for a 2-bladed propeller conversion kit for all normally aspirated PA-44-180 Piper Seminoles. The conversion kit provides Piper Seminoles with improved performance, appearance, and decreased noise signatures.

HCC Insurance Holdings Names Jonathan J. Greenway As President Of Avemco Insurance

The aero-revolving door continues with another major leadership change in the GA world... HCC Insurance Holdings has announced the hiring of Jonathan J. Greenway as President of Avemco Insurance Company (Avemco) effective... well, right away, as in January 9, 2012. Prior to joining Avemco, Mr. Greenway served as captain and check airman with American Airlines and more recently as the director of Safety for the AOPA Air Safety Institute. He is an aircraft owner and active flight instructor, and lives with his wife (Candy) and two daughters in Frederick, Maryland.

Initial Probe Focuses On Pawnee's Fuel System

The NTSB has issues its preliminary report in an accident involving a Piper Pawnee airplane belonging to a banner towing company in Jacksonville, FL on the last day of December, 2011. The accident resulted in the fatal injury to the pilot of the airplane when it went down in a shopping center parking lot across the street from Jacksonville Executive Airport at Craig Field.
