Knot
An abbreviation for one nautical mile per hour. Since a nautical
mile is 15 percent longer than a statute mile, a speed expressed in
knots is 15 percent higher than it would be if expressed in miles
per hour.

A little over a year ago, the Nat'l Weather Center's
Hydrometeorological Prediction Center made "significant changes" to
the look of the short range forecast web pages.
