ANN's Daily Aero-Term (03.24.13): Westerlies

Westerlies Usually applied to the broad patterns of persistent winds with a westerly component. It is the dominant persistent atmospheric motion, centered over the midlatitudes of each hemisphere. Near the earth's surface, the westerlies extend from approximately 35 to 65 degrees latitude, while in the upper levels they extend further polarward and equatorward.

Aero Linx: British Aerobatic Association Welcome to the website of the British Aerobatic Association. We are the sport flying Association responsible in the UK for scheduling and running aerobatic competitions for powered aircraft and gliders to internationally approved rules. We run up to twenty events each year throughout the UK. The majority of these cater for all levels of aerobatic contest flying, and national champions are declared in four power and glider classes. In addition we send teams to the three major annual international aerobatic World or European championships.
