Aero Linx: FAI -- HANG GLIDING AND PARAGLIDING All FAI hang gliding and paragliding international championships, competitions and record activities are conducted under the direction of the FAI Hang Gliding and Paragliding Commission (CIVL). CIVL stands for "Commission Internationale de Vol Libre". The FAI Hang Gliding and Paragliding Commission establishes and maintains rules for running FAI sanctioned hang gliding and paragliding competitions, makes safety recommendations and sets technical standards at these events, and is responsible for setting the criteria for FAI recognised records and badges.

ANN's Daily Aero-Term (02.05.12): Geosynchronous Orbit

Geosynchronous Orbit Also known as geostationary. An orbit in which an object circles the Earth once every 24 hours, moving at the same speed and direction as the planet’s rotation. The object remains nearly stationary above a particular point, as observed from Earth. The International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) and some weather satellites are examples of satellites in geosynchronous orbit.

Aero-News: Quote Of The Day (02.05.12)

"In April 2008, the FAA chartered an Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) to examine these operational and safety issues and make recommendations on how to proceed with regulating Small UASs. The agency has received the ARC recommendations, and is drafting a proposed rule. The FAA aims to publish a proposed rule in 2011." Source: The FAA -- which was widely expected to announce revisions in the rules limiting the use of small unmanned aircraft in national airspace by the end of January, but the agency has, without explanation, delayed any word of changes until sometime "this Spring," according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.
