"We are concerned about growing evidence of slowing economic growth that would inevitably affect passenger demand, coupled with a surge in energy prices."

Source: Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly. Low-cost carrier Southwest plans to cut capacity even more in 2008, from earlier estimates of a four percent reduction to five percent. Kelly says the airline opted to further reduce seats in anticipation of a slowing economy.
