FAA Agrees To Listen To Noise Abatement Alternatives
Delaware County Council Chairman Andrew Reilly announced at the
council's Dec 12 meeting he had secured an agreement from Steve
Kelley, an FAA project manager, to consider mitigation proposals in
the continuing fight over traffic rerouting in the New York-New
Jersey-Pennsylvania region.
I've recently reviewed Dennis Newton's Severe Weather
Flying for a print publication. This third
edition of a classic weather-avoidance text, in continuous print
since 1983, aims to teach strategies to avoid flying in "severe"
weather. One area Newton discusses at length is airframe ice.
"We are determined to claim compensation. We've been
badly hurt by this delay. After the first delay, we had the option
of cancelling the deal, but we didn't -- maybe because the results
would have been worse."

Maktoum, on the airline's plan to seek an unspecified amount of
additional compensation due to continued delays surrounding the
Airbus A380 superjumbo. Emirates has 45 of the mammoth
airliners on order.
